Lazy Sunday today. The weather and the amount of homework/assignment I need to do has opted me to stay at home today, wash my sheets and maybe go to the grocers because there is no food in this home! I seriously miss rice from a rice cooker and I miss toast so much. Sometimes the slice bread I choose, taste like wine and off bread but it's not off! It confuses me as much as the toilets in this country.
Before I talk about Akihabara, I went to a tonkatsu restaurant with my Thai sisters as one of them wanted lunch to take back to the dorm. And this old man, is seriously the cutest, nicest and friendliest person ever. Him and his wife greeted us so happily and I was upset that we weren't eating in but only grabbing one meal to go they still served us water happily and talked to us in broken Japanese. I honestly don't know what they were saying but I just nodded my head and said "hai" as if I did. They asked where we were from and if we loved Japan. This man seriously made the tonkatsu with so much love and effort and the wife even wrapped the meal so beautifully. All I know is this man and his wife made me love Japan so much more as people like him exist everywhere in this country. So welcoming.
Now to Akihabara, the Electric Town. This city is just filled with anime, manga, AKB48, figurines, technology and a whole bunch of everything I said times it by 1000. Very overwhelming with colour and little maids on the street advertising their maid cafe. Sadly we didn't go to the maid cafe, that's something boys need to do and we were 100% certain we weren't going to enjoy anything about it. If no one knows what a maid cafe is, it is pretty much girls dress in cute maid outfits and they're not necessarily hosts but they entertain you a whole bunch but being extremely cute instead of sexy. You yell out ridiculous things like "Moi moi kawaii" when you wan't their attention or to order food. There were heaps of maid cafe's everywhere in Akihabara.
Also every single corner was something related to AKB48. For someone who knows only a tiny bit of Japanese pop culture, all I know about this band is there's a billion of them in this group and they all look the same and they can't really sing good. They are big in Akihabara as they were ... founded (I think, shoot me if I'm wrong) in this city. Everywhere you turn just a huge poster of about 40 girls starting you down. Creepy. This is AKB48:
And finally, here is my video and photos for the trip. Sorry not many was taken, the city itself is very repetitive and tiny... so tiny to record anything! This country is way too small and there are just too many people!
