Today was a dorm event to Kamakura and Enoshima. I usually never join these dorm events but since I'm an R.A now I thought I should show more face and also because Kamakura is one of my bucketlist places that strangely I haven't been to even though it's in Kanagawa... Anyway, it was a really good winter's day with the most beautiful weather! Not too cold nor hot. Also I've realised, this must be a really long time maybe since Summer Holidays that I've gone out to explore Japan. I know, how terrible but I've been really busy!
Anyway in Kamakura, we visited some temples and also the big big big Buddha! Daibutsu! He is gigantic, big and fat. It was a nice site, something you don't see back at home so it was a real wanderlust feel. We were also able to go inside him (I reread that line and I lol'd) and it seemed much smaller inside.
The second temple we visited at Kamakura had so many kids in kimonos and I was seriously in HEAVEN. I wanted to follow so many kids, they were just so adorable! I later learnt that these kids were in kimonos and are visiting the temple because it's apart of a tradition called "Shichi-go-san" (7-5-3). This is when girls that are 7 or 3 and boys that are 5 years old have to dress up in a kimono to celebrate the growth and well-being of young children on November 15 every year. Simple traditions like these get me mega interested and make me fall in love with Japan all over again. Seriously, Japanese kids just get me all the time! I WANT ONE.
Anyway afterwards we headed off to Enoshima. Been there done that. So I didn't really do the activities with them and just chilled at the bottom. CEEBS doing the stairs again, mega tiring (lazy). After all of this, it was a successful day and I keep getting reminded that my time here is limited so I need to visit all the places that I've been wanting to go to.
Have fun with thy video and photos friends!
