Hiroshima

To anyone who loves history, museums in general or places with a story or meaning, Hiroshima is seriously a place to go. I have to admit after the Hiroshima War Memorial Museum, I was wrecked. I was mega depressed and I was just emotional. The museum was filled with history, filled with information, it gave you the knowledge to everything... the reason behind why the atomic bomb dropped, how the atomic bomb was made, and the after effects. It also continues on with the ongoing use of nuclear weapons and how Hiroshima is a city where it's aim is just for world peace. You can't blame them, after the museum I just understood how much the city went through and you feel for them.

The museum actually allowed photos so you guys can see a glimpse of what they show. There's a section where they showed the clothes they found on dead bodies which were majority of children's school uniforms. The one that probably just made me depressed was diary entries of children who were exposed to the atomic bomb and felt the effects years after it. For example there was a guy who was exposed when he was 1 years old and he continued writing entries on how he kept on feeling weak day by day and he knew he was dying because he was exposed.

Hiroshima Castle

Hiroshima's A-bomb Dome. The only building that was left untouched after the bombing. Everything was left the same, from the wrecked building to just the small stones around it that was ruined. It hasn't been touched since 1945. Also now a world heritage site. Anyone who was in the Dome on the day of the bombing was instantly killed. A lot of controversy since some people want to get rid of it as it still causes pain from that day...

And of course, everyone knows the story of Sadako Sasaki. The girl who got leukaemia due to the bombing and died after fighting it for ten years. Because of this she believed if she made 1000 paper cranes she would be able to get one wish granted. She didn't get to make it to 1000, but kids around Japan got to do it for her. Depressing.

"This is our cry. This is our prayer. For building peace in this world"

Hiroshima

This still gives me shivers. Watches that was found at the bombing that stopped at 8:15a.m.
